Jess Wilcox,
Living & Lived Experience Mental Health Advisor,
University of Newcastle

Jessica Wilcox is a strong and fierce advocate in the realms of mental ill-health, suicide prevention, STEM (Science, Tehcnology, Engineering and Mathematics), disability inclusion, and domestic, family, and sexual violence. She is affiliated with many lived and living experience advisory groups in the mental ill-health and suicide prevention sector that include government and non-government organisations. These include Everymind, NSW ACON Advisory, Central Coast LHD, and LGBTIQ+ Health Australia.   

Jess has worked in a STEM mentoring role for HunterWiSE over multiple years at the University of Newcastle, previously at NSW Health, and also in other IT roles. Her background in technology, and strong passion for advocacy in mental ill-health and suicide prevention brings a diverse range of skills, knowledge, and experience. These play a role in collaborating together as a community to work on projects, targeting specific priority groups, and including all stakeholders and significant service providers. 

Scott Lynch,
Founder,
Community Therapy

Scott is the founder and managing director of Community Therapy, a team of 130 allied health professionals providing mobile services to the aged care, disability and hospital at home sectors of CCHNE Health Districts.

He has served as vice chair of the Australian Physiotherapy Association's Gerontology Committee and continues to support the APA in the domains of aged care and disability policy and advocacy.

Louise Thornton
Senior Research Fellow,
University of Newcastle

Dr Louise Thornton is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Newcastle and Program Lead for Digital Interventions and Engagement at the Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use, at the University of Sydney. She leads a program of research to identify and understand the most effective ways digital technologies can be leveraged to reduce chronic disease risk and improve people’s mental health. Her research primarily focusses on adolescents and young people, and people experiencing mental health problems. Dr Thornton is the NSW representative on the executive for the Society for Mental Health Research (Australian peak body for mental health research) and is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Society for Research on Internet Interventions.
